Abstract:	There are 16 minicipalities and town councils in Zimbabwe with a total of 1,673,057 people, which constitute 22% of the country’s population (1982 Census). Another 264,468 people live in the smaller urban areas (located in rural district council areas), which brings the total to 1,937,525 or 26% of the country’s population. With an annual rate of population growth of 3-4%, there are significant changes which have already occurred in the population structures since the 1982 Census.
